Our little man is one. And now we have two one year-olds in the house! Crazy.

Today has been an interesting day. In a lot of ways it has been so different from the girls' birthdays. To be honest, it's been strange to celebrate a birthday when we have been together for so short a time. And since Nate is too young to appreciate it anyway, it makes it even tougher to get into it.

Even my thoughts have been so different...with the girls I was always full of emotion about how big they seemed and how I couldn't believe a year had gone by. But with Nathan all I can seem to think about is where he was a year ago, what were the circumstances of his birth, who the woman was that gave birth to him, where is she today, and how she could have no clue that that little baby would go from being abandoned beside a latrine to suburban Kansas...the thoughts are overwhelming and always leave me quietly shaking my head in disbelief over the way that God works.

But it was his birthday none-the-less and we did our best to celebrate it. So here are a few pictures that we took today...

Morning Birthday Boy!

The girls giving Nate his birthday balloon. It's a tradition that we started on Adele's 2nd balloon per year you are. How awesome is it going to be when we are filling their room with 18?!

I don't get it? What am I supposed to do with this?

CARS!! What every boy needs and what the Dummermuths have had very little of!

Pure joy. Over what? Getting his diaper changed! He laughs hysterically EVERY TIME!

Rather than cake (I just wasn't able to embrace that), Nate experienced cookies for the first time. He hesitated at first...

...but then he got it!

I had to include this picture of Adele. We started getting Christmas decorations out...yes, Mary and Baby Jesus are racing.

I can't tell you how many times I have been asked how on earth I do it...four kids, four and under...okay, so some people just ask me if I'm crazy, but whatever.

So, here are four ways I came up with that enable me to get it done...

1. God...seriously that's really it
2. Anthony...I can't even begin to explain what an amazing blessing he is. Let's just say that I NEVER get called when I'm out with my friends. What an amazing daddy he is!
3. Denial...there has to be a little part of me that isn't acknowledging the craziness of all of this
4. Delagation...I can't do it all, I don't want to have to do it all, and my other kids are quite capable of pitching in. Just check out the pictures below. This is how I was able to make pancakes for the kids this morning...

This little girl is truly amazing.

Happy Birthday to ME!!

So, today was my birthday. It maybe wasn't our best day, but I did get a few cute pics enjoy!

Me and all my babies...too fun!

Adele and Elise finishing off the cake they made for me with Daddy.

The cake. It's pink inside...not a surprise if you know our girls.

A little bathtime fun. Lu is stil bigger than Nate (maybe not her head though), so don't let the picture fool you.
