Merry Christmas!!!

Well, we had a wonderful Christmas today. Complete with me hiding out during dinner with a hot bath and what was left of our pear mimosas! Don't judge.

Seriously though, we have such great kids and they make everything so much fun. And of course, my brunch was killer and we had a great time with family and one dear friend.

I didn't take many pictures of the morning, but here are a few to keep you happy!

Gotta love homemade decorations! Here are a couple of the houses the kids made with my mom this year.

This is what things looked like when we went to bed last night...

So, the rule was that as the kids woke up, they were to wait in the loft until they were all there, then they could ring a bell I had left for them, and we would come up and get them. This is what welcomed us this morning.

Adele introduced us to a German tradition that she learned about in school about hiding a pickle ornament on the tree and how whoever found it got an extra present from Santa. She had made an ornament at school and was the lucky finder this morning. And what do you know, Santa's extra gift was a legit pickle ornament!! (I'm not sure what makes me laugh hardest in this picture...Adele's hair, a pickle ornament, or my crazy son in the background!!!)

I also wanted to post this video that our sweet little church played last night during the Christmas Eve is just that good. = )

As Nate would say..."Ho Ho Ho. Merry Christmas everybody!"

A Little Goal Setting...

A few years back Anthony gave me an article (yes, he does stuff like that) about making a list of lifetime goals. It was actually a great article and I made a list...which I have, of course, lost. I do remember that on the list I put that I wanted to build or remodel a house someday...and then started the process only a couple of months later. = ) So, at least I can check that baby off!!

UPDATE!! Found my old list. It was from 10/8/08 and had 32 goals on it. I wasn't as crazy about how I wrote them because they were harder to check off since some of them were something that are continual (like go on vacations with Anthony annually), but I found that I had completed 8 of the 32 and had 11 more that had shown up on my new lists.

Anyway, so the other day I decided to make a new list. I broke it down into three sections: goals for 2012, goals to be done before the end of 2016 (five years), and lifetime goals. It is a really fun thing to do actually. I threw in some big ones and then some little, attainable ones...I'm pretty happy with my list.

So, I figured I would share some of them with you and blog about them as they come along. I'll put in ( )s what category they are in...

1. finish blogging the house tour (2012)
2. make own shirt/dress and wear in public (2016)
3. find hairstyle I love (2012)
4. surprise Anthony with something big (life)
5. create a family cookbook (2012)
6. spend a month eating store-free (2016)
7. flip a house (life)
8. hang 20 things on my walls (2012)
9. go back to our honeymoon place with Anthony (2016)
10. read one classic book and one spiritual book each month (2012)

I'm sure I'll share some others as I go along and some of them are Rwanda/adoption related, which I will post about on my adoption blog soon.

If you have never made a list, you should try it. It really is fun and gets you thinking. At the top of my list I wrote a CS Lewis quote that says, "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream". I love the idea of living life with that much hope.

I wonder how many of these I will cross off as the years go by, and how many more I will add over the years. (I have 44 total goals right now.) I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
